Occupational therapy in Scarborough
Helping you get back to meaningful daily living
Compassionate occupational therapy for stronger skills and smoother days
Everyday life is full of tiny tasks that add up, from getting dressed, moving through transitions, handling busy environments, to managing big feelings. When those moments start to feel harder than they “should,” it can leave families wondering what’s going on… and where to start.
Occupational therapy offers a grounded, practical way forward. Our therapists look at the whole picture: you or your child’s strengths, your sensory world, the demands around you, and the things that matter most to you and your family. With developmentally informed, sensory-aware, relationship-centred care, we help build skills, confidence, and comfort in daily routines.
What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) helps children, teens, and adults build the skills they need to move through daily life with more ease, confidence, and independence. If everyday tasks feel harder than they should (emotionally, physically, or socially), OT offers support that’s practical, personalized, and grounded in evidence-based care.
Our occupational therapists look at the full picture: your strengths, your challenges, your environment, and what matters most to you. From there, we create a plan that feels doable in real life, whether that’s building motor skills, supporting sensory needs, or strengthening routines at home or school.
The goal is simple: to help you or your child participate more fully in the moments that matter.
Motor Skill Development
Fine Motor Skills:
Support for printing, scissor skills, hand strength, coordination, buttoning, lacing, and other everyday tasks that require small, precise movements.
Gross Motor Skills:
Work on balance, bilateral coordination, motor planning, and overall core and upper-body strength — all essential for play, movement, and independence.
Sensory Processing Support
We help individuals make sense of and feel more regulated in their sensory world, including:
visual
auditory
tactile
vestibular
proprioceptive
This support is especially helpful for children who are easily overwhelmed, under-responsive, or sensitive to certain environments.
Feeding Skills Enhancement
We offer gentle, developmentally informed support for:
bottle-feeding challenges
transitioning to solids
creating positive, connected mealtime routines at home and school
Assessment Process
Every OT journey begins with a collaborative assessment. We take time to understand strengths, challenges, and goals using standardized tools, observations, and parent or caregiver input. This helps us build a clear, individualized therapy plan.
Assessment Options
Fine Motor Assessment + Gross Motor Screen
A focused evaluation of hand skills, printing, scissor skills, coordination, and upper-body/core strength.
Sensory Assessment
A comprehensive look at sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, and how these patterns show up in daily life. Includes two visits and a follow-up consultation.
Therapy Services
After the assessment, we create a tailored therapy plan built around engaging, hands-on activities. Sessions may be:
• one-on-one
• group-based (e.g., printing groups, motor-skills groups)
Our work is collaborative, strengths-based, and paced in a way that feels safe and achievable.
Partnering With You
You’re not expected to figure this out alone. We walk with you (and your child) every step of the way, offering guidance, tools, and strategies that fit your routines and your real life.

Who we support
Children and Teens
No two children experience the world in the same way, so occupational therapy shouldn’t treat them the same either. We adapt each session so it feels safe, predictable, and genuinely engaging for your child or teen.
Therapy may focus on:
Strengthening fine and gross motor skills
Supporting emotional and sensory regulation
Building confidence with new or challenging tasks
Creating routines that feel calming and manageable
Encouraging flexible thinking and problem-solving
Increasing comfort in home, school, and community activities
Caregivers are part of the process every step of the way. We help you bring strategies into daily life so progress feels sustainable.
Adults
Many adults reach out when everyday tasks begin taking more energy than they used to, or when sensory needs, overwhelm, or life transitions make routines feel heavy.
Occupational therapy can help when you’re experiencing:
Sensory sensitivities or sensory overload
Challenges with planning, organization, or keeping routines
Difficulties managing emotional highs and lows
Fatigue, burnout, or stress in work or caregiving roles
Coordination or motor concerns affecting day-to-day tasks
Life transitions like returning to school, starting a new job, or major changes at home
Together, we look at what’s getting in the way and what truly supports you. Recommendations are realistic, personalized, and designed to fit your life.
