Psychodiagnostic Assessments

Get a clear picture of what’s causing emotional or behavioural challenges

What we look at

A psychodiagnostic assessment explores emotional, behavioural, and psychological experiences to help make sense of what you’re navigating. We look at patterns related to mood, anxiety, attention, and relationships, and identify factors that may be impacting daily life at home, at work, or in relationships.

The goal is to understand not only what’s going on, but also how it shows up day to day and what will genuinely support your wellbeing.

What you'll walk away with

  • A clear understanding of what may be contributing to challenges with mood, anxiety, or trauma

  • A balanced picture of strengths, coping skills, and areas that may need support

  • Personalized recommendations for therapy, treatment planning, and community resources

  • A summary letter available right after feedback and a full written report within four to six weeks

Understanding whether a psychodiagnostic assessment is right for you

When your inner world feels confusing or heavier than it used to, it can be hard to make sense of what’s going on. Many people come to us wanting to understand why certain patterns keep repeating, why emotions feel so intense, or why daily life suddenly feels more challenging. A psychodiagnostic assessment offers clarity.

This process helps you understand the underlying factors shaping your experience to give you language, validation, and a clear path forward. With the right insight, support becomes easier to access and healing feels more possible.

What a psychodiagnostic assessment can help clarify

A psychodiagnostic assessment helps make sense of what’s been feeling confusing, heavy, or hard to name. Many people come to us when they’ve been struggling with emotions, patterns, or reactions that don’t quite add up and they want a clearer understanding of why.

Common concerns this assessment can shed light on include:

  • Ongoing worry or anxiety

  • Low mood, sadness, or a loss of interest

  • Mood swings or emotional shifts

  • Difficulty with focus, concentration, or motivation

  • Trauma-related symptoms

  • Patterns of avoidance or burnout

  • Stress within relationships or social dynamics

  • Personality-based patterns that impact how you cope

At its core, this process is about clarity. Our goal is to help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface so you can move forward with more confidence, self-awareness, and the right kind of support.

Who we support

We work with people who are looking for clarity, understanding, and a compassionate place to make sense of what they’ve been experiencing.

  • Adults wanting insight into longstanding emotional or behavioural patterns

  • Teens and young adults navigating mood changes, anxiety, identity-related stress, or shifting life demands

  • Parents hoping to better understand a young person’s emotional or behaviours

Frequently asked questions
about psychodiagnostic assessments

What is a psychodiagnostic assessment?

A psychodiagnostic assessment is a structured, collaborative process that helps bring clarity to emotional, behavioural and psychological experiences. Our clinicians use interviews, standardised tools and observations to understand how daily life is being affected and identify what may be most supportive moving forward.

Is the assessment covered by insurance?

Many extended health benefit plans include full or partial coverage for psychological assessments. Before we begin, we’ll walk through fees and insurance options so you have a clear sense of what’s covered.

Who is a psychodiagnostic assessment helpful for?

This type of assessment supports teens, young adults and adults who are noticing shifts in mood, anxiety, trauma-related responses or changes in their emotional wellbeing. It can also be helpful if you’re trying to understand why certain patterns keep showing up or what might be contributing to what you’re experiencing.

How long does the assessment process take?

The process typically begins with a free consultation, followed by a clinical interview, standardised questionnaires, a feedback session and a written report. While timelines vary, most people receive a summary right after feedback and a full report within six to eight weeks.

What can this assessment clarify?

A psychodiagnostic assessment can provide clarity around experiences such as anxiety, low mood, trauma responses, emotion regulation patterns, obsessive thoughts or behaviours and personality-related considerations explored in an integrated, supportive way.

Do I need a referral to begin?

No referral is required. You’re welcome to book your assessment directly. We also collaborate closely with physicians, therapists and other health professionals who may refer clients to us.

What kinds of recommendations will I receive?

After your assessment, you’ll receive personal, practical recommendations, whether that’s therapy approaches that may fit well for you, strategies for daily life, referrals to community supports or guidance on next steps.

How is this different from a psychoeducational assessment?

A psychoeducational assessment focuses on learning, academics and cognitive skills. A psychodiagnostic assessment explores emotional and psychological experience to better understand what may support your wellbeing.

If this feels like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, we’d love to hear from you.

We take a gentle, person-centred approach to every assessment. We move at a pace that feels comfortable, take time to understand the context of your life, and offer recommendations that are practical, meaningful, and truly aligned with your goals.
